Sustainability in Research and Development

Research and development provide the answers to the pressing questions of the future. Their solutions, but also the methods the developers and scientists themselves use, touch on all important aspects of sustainability.

Through innovations, e.g. in energy storage, resource conservation or personnel management, research and test centers drive transformation by making their findings market-ready, converting them into applications and communicating them in an understandable way to a broad public.
But the way in which R&D is carried out also counts: the facilities can, for example, supply test facilities or test benches with electricity from renewable energies, use data centers in a climate-friendly manner and operate buildings in a resource-saving manner. Transformation succeeds when scientific organizations research sustainability and approach the topic as pioneers. Non-university research institutions are increasingly actively integrating sustainability into their infrastructure, into work and procurement processes, when traveling, at conferences and through sustainable human resources management.
