Sustainability in Mobility Services

Those who promote the transport transition travel multimodally: by bike to the city, by bus and train to work, by car-sharing van to the hardware store, by night train to the beach. In order for “being on the move” to work using different means of transport, seamless travel chains and corresponding offers are needed.

Companies in the sector are driving forward climate-friendly mobility by making the use or combination of different options more flexible and attractive. Mobility-as-a-Service, pay per use, sharing or subscription-based business models create a holistic offering. It is important to use cross-channel, consistent mobility data to intelligently link individual touchpoints, facilitate access and enable smooth travel.
The industry itself is an important driving force that is decisively driving forward networked mobility and thus sustainable travel – because ship and air travel in particular are still strong emissions drivers. The aim here is to drastically reduce CO2 emissions through emission-free drive technologies and alternative travel options such as the night train. Digitalization is also driving mobility development. Sharing solutions, ticketing and multi-modal travel are becoming easier via apps and digital assistants.

The industry includes, for example, mobility and travel services for people on two-wheelers, public transport, trains, cars, ships, planes, stationary and online. Tour operators are assigned to the “tourism” sector and transport companies are assigned to the “transport and logistics industry”.
