Households control energy consumption via smart home technologies, cities direct traffic flows and become smart cities and power lines are transformed into intelligent networks: without innovations in measurement and control technology, the energy, transport and heat transition is inconceivable.

The industry is driving transformation by controlling the Internet of Things and connecting physical and virtual objects. Their products enable energy systems by optimally connecting and monitoring power generators, storage and consumers. The concepts of “Predictive Maintenance” and “Digital Twins” reduce resource and energy consumption.
But there is also great potential in environmental technologies such as real-time measurement of pollutants in air, water and soil and the connection with cleaning and precision technologies (e.g. in agriculture). The industry also includes optics, which ensure high product quality and, for example, control the on-demand use of autonomous applications. This helps manufacturers detect defects early and reduce rejection rates.
