Sustainability in Vehicle Trade and Repair Shops

More and more car dealerships are converting their business and workshop operations to mobility solutions and climate neutrality. The industry has long since recognized that sustainability is not limited to a wide range of electric vehicles and attractive conditions for switching to alternative drives. It’s about becoming a solution provider in the mobility transition. Especially in rural areas, car dealerships can become mobility centers and offer vehicles for flexible use. Fewer sales are offset by income opportunities from rental, use and service.

Industry pioneers are focusing on smart housekeeping such as switching to LED lighting, using renewable energy sources such as solar energy on building roofs, water treatment in car washes, and the treatment and recycling of waste. In motor vehicle workshops, repair principles such as repairs instead of new purchases promote important changes for customers and insurers.
From 2025, numerous car dealerships will have to report on their sustainability management. The majority of brand-affiliated companies, as well as independent dealers and workshops, are confronted with growing demands from their customers on the way to becoming modern mobility providers. Online trading for used cars has a special responsibility to promote the decarbonization of existing fleets, e.g. through a faster introduction of electric vehicles and a quicker abandonment of combustion vehicles.

The industry includes, for example, trade and workshops for vehicles and motorcycles, parts and accessories.
